HEART

Hi button lovers!

My name is Justin Castaneda and I am the creator of the When I Was Little picture book series. Mutant Cactus (Danny, Derek, and Rob) all met at Mid Ohio Con a few years back. I loved their comic book buttons and a majority of them now cover my messenger bag. Since then, we have been creative comrades at shows and growing friends. This year we came up with the "little SUPERS" button line as part of their 52 week release schedule. They were kind enough to have me do a guest post because I have a new book project I am raising funds for thru Kickstarter.

The way Kickstarter works is it funds creativity. It accepts donations to help creative people get their passion projects made. Artists, writers, and filmmakers can set up a Kickstarter campaign and by supporting them and their work, you get rewarded! For instance when you donate to my project, you can receive a signed copy, sketch cards, digital prints, buttons, custom art and a lot more.
The buttons for my Heart campaign were made by The Mutant Cactus Crew too!
So the name of my new book is called, Heart.  Heart is a story about love and acceptance.  This book has been a labor of love for many years.  I really believe in this book. It's been an idea birthed through the struggles I had growing up trying to find where I fit in.  I had difficulty making friends and I thought for the longest time it's because of who I was as a person.  I thought if I changed who I was I would find my place.  It wasn't until much later when I learned all that was non-sense and the most important thing I could ever do was: To Be Myself.

It's a bit more expensive to release a hardcover children's book than I had anticipated.  I didn't want to cop out into doing it as a softcover, it's not meant to be that way.  With the help of some fellow creatives that gave me an extra push, I started this Kickstarter campaign:

I hope you can help support the book and the message this book gives.

I thank you for your time and consideration and thanks again to the Mutant Cactus crew for letting me post on their website!

Mutant Cactus Spring Update

It has been a very busy past few weeks for us here at Mutant Cactus.  Last weekend, we set-up at the Lexington Comic and Toy Convention.  The show was a HUGE success.  We're looking forward to next year's show.  This year we got to meet the best Power Ranger of all time, Tommy Oliver (Jason David Frank).  Tommy was the legendary Green Ranger and White Ranger from the MMPR series.  He was also the Red Zeo, Red Turbo and eventually the Black Dino Thunder Ranger.  I'm excited to see who they bring out for next year.

This weekend is a very special weekend.  We are splitting forces to tackle a couple of different things.  Derek has teamed up with our friend and former colleague, Rob "GANTOR" Gant.  It is great to have Rob back visiting the MC crew.  They are hitting the very popular Gem City Comic Con.  If you are in Dayton, Ohio this weekend, be sure to stop by this show and say hi.

While Derek tackles things on the "HomeFront,"  I'm taking a bit of a vacation in Miami, FL.  I'll be hitting up WrestleMania XXVIII, which is on PPV, Sunday @ 7pm.  In the meantime, I'll be attending some of the Indy wrestling events that are in town.  Last night I attended the Dragon Gate USA iPPV taping.  I've managed to squeeze in a little MC work while here.

I got to meet Colt Cabana from The Art of Wrestling PODCAST.  It was awesome to meet Colt in person as we've worked out some awesome sponsorship deals with him over the last few months.
If you are in Miami for Tomorrow's WMXXVIII, make sure to head over to the Wrestle Reunion hotel where Colt will team up with his buddy, Marty DeRosa for a LIVE 5 Dollar Wrestling.  It is only $5 to get in. The first 100 attendees will receive a FREE $5 Wrestling Button courtesy of Mutant Cactus.
