The HERO Initiative

At this year's Mid-Ohio-Con we were proud to begin offering the first of our charity buttons/magnets. We started with the HERO Initiative. Here's a bit more info about the HERO Initiative:

"The Hero Initiative creates a financial safety net for comic creators who may need emergency medical aid, financial support for essentials of life, and an avenue back into paying work. Since inception, the Hero Initiative has been fortunate enough to benefit over 40 creators and their families with over $400,000 worth of much-needed aid, fueled by your contributions! It's a chance for all of us to give back something to the people who have given us so much enjoyment."

We were selling 1" HERO Initiative buttons at our table in Creators' Common. We donated all proceeds at the end of the show to our local HERO reps, Craig and Sandy Wetterman. In addition, we donated a collection of our buttons and a copy of Tales of Awesome #1 to HERO to auction off. It was just about 150 buttons in total. Congratulations to Maggie Thompson, the Senior Editor of Comic Buyer's Guide, for winning this awesome button collection. It was also extremely cool to see such support from Maggie and MANY MANY others for the HERO Initiative.

If you missed us at Mid-Ohio now you can help the HERO Initiative. How you ask? There are 2 ways. The first is to go to HERO Initiative's webpage and make a donation directly. Check out all of the cool donation packages that they offer.

You can also help HERO by purchasing one of these AWESOME HERO Initiative Buttons or Magnets (or both) for only $1 EACH! ALL proceeds are donated directly to the HERO initiative.
